Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND)

Faculty from the GUCCHD has been awarded a 5-year grant, Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND). LEND, funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) of the Health Resources and Services Administration is a premier training program that began in the 1960s. There are currently 56 LEND programs in 44 states.

LEND programs provide long-term, graduate level interdisciplinary training as well as interdisciplinary services and care. The purpose of the LEND training program is to improve the health of infants, children, and adolescents with disabilities by preparing trainees from diverse professional disciplines to assume leadership roles in their respective fields and by ensuring high levels of interdisciplinary clinical competence.

The GULEND which will begin accepting trainees for the 2021 academic year. In addition to providing a didactic program, GULEND will partner with the National Children’s Center in SE Washington, DC to pride interdisciplinary services and supports, and in collaboration with other universities and LEND programs regionally and nationally we offer training and technical assistance activities that advances racial and health equity in teaching models, clinical skills, critical inquiry and research, and advocacy for individuals with ASD/DD.
